The opportunity:
In your role as HSE Coordinator, you will be directly responsible for the coordination and execution of all Health & Safety and H&S training at site.
How you will impact WestRock:
- Evaluating, refining processes and techniques to improve learning effectiveness and productivity across all departments at site.
- Assisting in driving the success of training plans and supporting the needs of the workforce.
- Ensure that all safety legislation is adhered to and best practice principles and policies are adopted throughout the site by implementing and maintaining a robust Safety system.
- Assist the site in planning, implementing, monitoring and reviewing the protective and preventative measures require to minimize operational losses, occupational health problems, accidents and injuries.
- Take the lead with any HSE issue at site and ensure that all staff are complying with the company procedures.
- Support development of site communications i.e. Team Briefings, Newsletters.
- Monitor employee performance and response to training, escalating concerns where appropriate.
- Assist and provide guidance on carrying out risk assessments and considering how risks could be reduced.
- Assist and provide guidance on carrying out COSHH assessments.
- Provide site with support and guidance with accident investigations.
- Outline safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazards.
- Assist with regular site and equipment inspections to check policies, procedures and working practices are being implemented correctly.
- Provide internal and external audit support.
- Assist the Group's/Division's efforts to improve SHE performance/standards by coordinating the reporting of injuries/incidents, ensuring there is a proper level of accident and injury investigation
- Manage the Safety, Health and Environmental Management Systems.
- Keep up to date with new legislation and maintaining a working knowledge of HSE legislation/developments and brief teams of any changes via workflow.
- Advise teams on specialist areas such as fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safe guarding machinery and occupational diseases.
- Conducting internal audits and effectively plan to address any gaps noted.
- Carry out other general administration activities as an when required.
What you need to succeed:
- Knowledge of HSE legislation with the ability to understand and interpret legislation as appropriate to the site
- Proven experience as a trainer
- NEBOSH General Certificate or NEBOSH Diploma or part qualified
- Willingness to work flexible schedules/shifts
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Programmes
