Description
We are looking for a well-qualified, enthusiastic, and passionate Teacher of Science to take on a lead role in biology within our highly successful science team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing biology across KS3 and KS4 in collaboration with the department.
In Years 7 and 8, all students follow an integrated science course and biology is taught as a separate subject, by subject specialists, from Year 9. At GCSE, students are offered either the AQA Trilogy course, leading to two GCSEs in science, or the option of AQA separate sciences and achieving GCSE qualifications in separate biology, biology, and physics.
The successful applicant will be responsible for reviewing, designing, and overseeing the schemes of work at KS3 and 4 and will be accountable for student progress and development within biology across all 5 years.
GCSE results in science are consistently strong. In 2023, 57.1% of all biology GCSE entries were awarded grades 7-9, 87.8% were at 9-5 and 95.9% were awarded at % of all pupils were awarded 9-4 in our Trilogy GCSE course.
Our main priorities are to maintain achievement, enhance the curriculum and support our pupils to reach their true potential.
