    Description

    As Safe Learning Environment Partner, the post holder will be responsible for coordinating and embedding the NHS England Safe Learning Environment Charter (SLEC) and all the underlying principles within Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.


    The objective is to strengthen the workforce by advancing high-quality learning environments, reducing learner attrition, and improving retention of qualified staff.

    The post holder will work collaboratively with medical and non-medical colleagues within the organisation to ingrain the charter across all learning environments and all professions within them.

    This will provide the supportive learning environment required across all professions to allow learners to become well-rounded professionals with the right skills and knowledge to provide safe and compassionate care of the highest quality.

    As well as being embedded into Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, the post holder will build strong relationships within the Integrated Care System (ICS), Higher education Institute (HEI) partners and colleagues regionally through the South West SLEC network sharing information and best practice as necessary.


    Close working with the Education, Learning and Development Service, People Promise Partner, Project Management, Post Graduate Medical Education, Undergrad Medical Education and the Associate Director for Education, Learning and Culture to form part of our Trust wide Cultural Improvement.

    Develop a robust project plan to ensure the co-ordination and embedding of the SLEC into the organisation by working closely with colleagues to identify all activity and interventions already taking place within the organisation relating to the SLEC charter priorities.

    Report on progress towards the identified project plan and metrics to the Education, Learning and Development Steering Group and thus to People & OD Delivery Group.


    This includes but is not limited to the analysis and sharing of National Education and Training Survey (NETS) data, the identification and use of existing resources, and areas of good practice already available.


    Work closely with NHS England South West Workforce, Training and Education Directorate, and the South West SLEC network, sharing learning to improve learning environments, reduce learner attrition, improve retention.

    Driving / travelling may be required which will be mostly within Gloucestershire but occasionally may be outside of Trust County boundaries.


    Most challenging part of the jobManaging programme implementation and realisation, within limited resources and to tight deadlines in a constantly changing and challenging environment.

    Active professional registration with the Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC), NMC, GMC or other relevant professional registering bodies
    Educated to Master's level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area.
    Evidence of continuing professional development.

    Post Graduate Qualification within the specialism of education

    Extensive experience and knowledge in supporting placement learning, and ability to implement and evaluate initiatives to continually improve the provision of high-quality Education, Learning & Development activity
    Experience of analysing data/feedback/evaluations and identifying necessary actions and interventions

    Comprehensive experience of project principles techniques and tools such as Prince 2 and Managing Successful Projects.
    Experience of identifying and interpreting national policy/guidelines/plans

    Excellent knowledge of the Safe Learning Environment Charter, the NHS People Plan, Long Term Workforce Plan, and NHS People Promise
    Demonstrates a strong desire to improve performance and make a difference by focusing on goals.

    Must be able to provide and receive highly complex, sensitive or contentious information, negotiate with senior stakeholders on difficult and controversial issues, and present complex and sensitive information to large and influential groups.

    Must be able to use initiative to decide relevant actions and make recommendations with the aim of improving deliverables and compliance to policies
