As a Barclays Automation Engineer, you will report into the Regional Head of Data Store and will work with other members of the team, other areas of Cloud Platforms, Business Units and key stakeholders to test, certify, deploy, manage, and support the automation initiatives/solutions and produce standard documentation. What will you be doing?

• Providing expertise across multiple programming frameworks, languages and security products

• Defining automation workflows in consultancy with Database engineers

• Building out and developing Automation Engineering capability as required

• Articulating technical and business concepts to different audiences and influencing technical decisions with solid metrics collection / proof of concepts

• Engaging with product management and contributing setting the strategic direction for our organisation's database architecture, ensuring alignment with overall business goals

• Working closely with stakeholders and Product management to assist in creating and maintaining the technical strategy and roadmap for Automation use cases

• Engaging with the wider database engineering team to share ideas and adopt common solutions

What we're looking for:

• Experience in Software development and Automation using Python, Ansible, Database technologies, PostgreSQL

• Ability and competence to design and build full stack solutions based on microservices architecture especially databases preferably using Kubernetes

• Experience in REST API development along with API integration using an API Gateway

• Experience in operating in a Scrum/Agile/SDLC environment

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Previous knowledge in Jenkins, Chef

• Cloud experience, AWS, Azure, GCP

• API development knowledge

• Working experience in a financial environment

Where will you be working?
You will be based in Radbroke, Knutsford. The Barclays Technology Campus just outside Manchester is our tech command centre and a vital strategic powerhouse behind our global operations.
