    JobDescription:

    BAND4 DENTALNURSE:CoreDuties:

    • The DentalService compromises of a wide range of locations specialities andservices the post holder will be required to provide comprehensivechair side and administrative support to a clinician within aDepartment/clinic based in BDH Community clinics and/or Domiciliarysetting.
    • To prepare and monitor patients forand during their Dental treatment providing pre and postoperativeinstructions as required.
    • To undertake thegeneral care of the surgery including Dental equipment/instrumentsand arrange any necessary repairs asrequired.
    • To ensure medical emergency drugs andequipment are available and up to date.
    • Toprovide assistance to the Clinician using inhalation sedation asrequired following approved training.
    • Toprovide chair side assistance and postoperative instructions duringgeneral anesthetics and exodontia sessions asrequired.
    • To provide oral health education topatients as required by the Dentist.
    • To assistthe Senior Dental Nurse in the smooth running of the Dentalservice.
    • To support and assist UndergraduateDental Students.
    • To support and superviseApprentice Dental Nurse and Foundation Degreestudents.

    MainDuties:

    • Ensuringcorrect instruments/equipment/medicaments are available for thesession and that the clinical area is set up appropriately prior totreatment adhering to infection controlguidelines.
    • Ensuring patient records areavailable prior to treatment andupdated.
    • Processing Dental radiographs usingthe relevant local processing systems in accordance with localprotocols and IRMER Regulations.
    • Undertakingthe decontamination process of Dental instruments as requiredand/or the preparation of instruments complying with Trustguidelines and the Control of Cross InfectionPolicy.
    • Carry out necessary clinic dailychecks.
    • Dispose of clinical/nonclinical wasteas required including safe disposal of sharps in line with thetrust policy.
    • Be aware of Trusts Health andSafety Policies including COSHH Regulations especially the use ofall chemicals and procedures for any spillage that mayoccur.
    • Stock control/rotation and the orderingof Dental consumables as required from appropriatesuppliers.
    • Assemble and utilise specialistequipment as required.
    • Support the induction ofnew staff as required.
    • Take part in clinicalgovernance activities and comply with standards set by the Dentalservice.
    • To undertake health and safety riskassessments asrequired.
