    Description

    Ensure nursing practice is in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and Mental Health Legislation, which incorporates and respects differences in gender, sexuality, ethnicity, religion, culture and disability.

    To provide and develop in conjunction with the Sector Manager, the multi-disciplinary team and other relevant agencies, a service for clients, which takes account of individuals physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs.

    To participate in effective nursing assessment of care needs, providing a high standard of care to patients in the unit, in keeping with the philosophy and operational policies of the Prison, in addition to Trust policies and procedures.

    Monitor the effectiveness of care delivery and ensure clinical records are of a high standard.

    Manage a House unit and administer medications / attending emergency codes and management of all the medical situations and care for the patients.

    ~ Registered Mental Health Nurse/Registered General Nurse
    Evidence of personal and professional development in Nursing since Registration
    Experience at senior band 5 grade within an in-patient service.
    Practical experience of providing high quality care and exceeding expectations.
    Experience of running Clinics.
    Knowledge of, and ability to follow, NMC code of conduct
    Ability to assess plans, implement and evaluate patient care & act accordingly if untoward changes occurred.
    Knowledge of risk assessment and management and its implementation.
    Ability to use computer to access patient information and use email.
    Able to use computer software packages such as MS Word and Excel.
    Excellent shift management skills & Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    Ability to maintain patient records within standards required by locally, Trust & NMC
    Ability to demonstrate evidence-based practice & understanding of clinical governance in maintaining quality of care
    Committed to personal/professional development
    Flexible approach to work
    Senior Nurse/Bleepholding/Bed Management experience
    Awareness of health & Safety issues.
    Willingness to undertake further training relevant to clinical area.
    Able to work day and night flexible shifts
    Ability to understand and implement the Equal Opportunities Policy at a level appropriate to the job.
    Satisfactory Enhanced Criminal records Bureau Disclosure and enhanced Prison clearance
