What will you be doing?


The Buyer will be responsible for assisting and ensuring that orders for parts and products are placed and delivered in a timely manner; aligning with production and customer requirements, whilst ensuring the best value, availability, and lead times are met.

As a key member of the team, the Buyer must be able to:

  • Accurately place and maintain purchase orders on the specified categories and competitive vendors for delivery on time in full, in conjunction with the Planning team
  • Enforce ownership of the order book onto the supplier and insist on early and overt problem identification and resolution
  • Maintain KPI's and achieve targets by placing orders correctly within the agreed throughput time metric
  • Drive suppliers to always achieve correct quality, and support resolution of any issues
  • For selected suppliers, hold regular formal meetings to ensure a good working relationship, and where required, visit the supplier.

What makes a successful Buyer?

  • 2 years of experience within a Buyer role
  • Previous purchasing or supply chain experience, ideally within electronics and/or mechanical engineering or manufacturing background
  • A willingness to learn new technologies and product ranges
  • Strong interpersonal skills and be selfmotivated, with a proactive "can do" approach to problem solving to meet the satisfaction of customers' requirements
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
