    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Registered Professional at degree level either Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner
  • Evidence of Post Qualifying Continuing Professional Development
  • Mentoring Qualification or equivalent
  • Specialist training or short course relevant to role at diploma level.
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Extensive theatre experience and / or cardiothoracic knowledge including the knowledge and skills for assessing and interpreting complex needs of patients/ surgeons and anaesthetists
  • Ability to treat all patient/employee information confidentially
  • Ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to communicate information verbally which maybe sensitive/difficult
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to work flexibly
  • Understand the obligation to maintain fitness to practice.
  • Ability to manage own workload working within codes of practice and professional guidelines seeking support as required
  • Able to concentrate in a busy work environment setting up instruments / equipment, checking patients in, assisting during operations.
  • Presents a professional image of self at all times
  • Take responsibility for their own personal development objectives and maintain an up-to -date professional portfolio in keeping with the requirements of any relevant professional body.
  • Proven evidence of resilience dealing with major cardiothoracic and chest trauma cases.
