Are you looking to be part of a busy team of in-house lawyers working at the cutting edge of legal regulation? Are you able to review and assess evidence and understand the importance of acting in the public interest?

We are looking for Legal Adviser to join our Legal and Enforcement team in either our Birmingham, London or Cardiff office.

The role
As a Legal Adviser, you will deal with contentious matters before the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal and Courts.

Alongside this, you will also provide high quality, risk based, legal and regulatory advice and case direction across our operational areas.

You will have opportunities to contribute fresh ideas to our team, looking for opportunities to build on our culture of continuous improvement.

You will be required to make and draft formal decisions based on evidential and public interest tests.

Where you become involved in conducting disciplinary or other proceedings, you will need to act in the public interest and ensure cases proceed in a proportionate and timely way.


You will need to demonstrate understanding of a regulatory environment as you will be involved in providing high quality legal advice and conducting cases either in-house or with the support of external solicitors.

What we are looking for

  • A qualified solicitor, barrister, registered European lawyer or an equivalent qualified lawyer in a common law or other jurisdiction, with a current practising certificate.
  • Experience of conducting litigation, or providing legal advice preferably in a regulatory environment
  • Significant experience of case analysis, legal drafting and decision making in a contentious or regulatory environment

We welcome applicants who may be looking to achieve a balance between their personal and professional life. This is a full-time role working 35 hours per week and are happy to talk flexible working.


This is a hybrid role based either in our Birmingham, London and Cardiff office, 1-2 days a week, and from home for rest of the week.

Travel to our main office in Birmingham would be required depending on training and business needs

Essential:


  • Solicitor or Barrister qualified in England and Wales
Experience of conducting litigation, or providing legal advice preferably in a regulatory environment

Significant experience of case analysis, legal drafting and decision making in a contentious or regulatory environment
