Types of sensitive and specialist medicines and pharmaceutical information include: choice of therapy (including formulary issues), choice of formulation and route of administration, side effects, adverse drug reactions, use of drugs where its action and effects may be influenced by patient disease state, biochemical parameters, liver and kidney function, diet, gender, ethnicity, pregnancy, breast feeding, age related problems. This could be in sensitive situations including cancer treatment, terminal illness and the effect of drug administration or prescribing errors or other drug misadventures. Discussions may be on a one-to-one basis with patient, doctor or other healthcare professional, or by telephone, e-mail or letter; or a one to many on medical ward rounds.
- Ability to analyse, interpret and evaluate specialist medicines related information or data, using clinical and professional judgement. This includes interpreting reports from any pharmacy computer system about drug usage and expenditure, clinical intervention reports, data from clinical trials and published papers, and changes in medicines legislation and policy (local and national). This information could inform decisions about an individual patients drug treatment ( data from the pathology system) or protocol & guideline development
- Self-motivated and able to work independently and autonomously as required, without the need for close supervision or support.

This position is part time (hours negotiable with applicant) withthe possibility of flexibility, working across Monday to Friday.

Working with the whole medicines management and pharmacy team toensure that patients receive a high level of care and service delivery.
To work as part of the primary care team in the practice supporting the staff to help achieve efficiencies and effectiveness.
To support with leading improvements to maximise safe, cost effective best practice in prescribing to improve the quality of patient care within the practice. To improve repeat prescribing processes in General Practice, including promotion of repeat dispensing and online ordering, minimising clinical risk and aiming to reduce wasted medicines.
