    Job summary

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Nursing Associate to join our dynamic outpatient team. We are based at Kidderminster Treatment Centre and cover a wide range of specialities including Trauma & Orthopaedic, Vascular, Gynaecology, Dermatology and many more. In our department, no day is ever the same.

    We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills who is reliable, flexible, compassionate and approachable to deliver a high standard of care. We pride ourselves on incorporating the Trusts 4ward behaviours to provide safe and effective care for all patients attending our department.

    Main duties of the job

    To work autonomously in clinics and assist multi-disciplinary team members.

    To work within your own limitations.

    To maintain up to date knowledge and skills in accordance with NMC requirements.

    Chaperoning.

    Supervising junior staff and student nurses.

    To rotate around a variety of clinical specialities.

    Wound care

    Venepuncture

    Job responsibilities

    Toensure own actions support equality, diversity and rights in the delivery of ahigh standard of patient care.

    Tocontribute to the prevention and control of infection by monitoring andrecording any issues

    Tocomply with Trust Policies and Regulations and attend mandatory training.

    Toassist in maintaining own and others Health, Safety and Security in theworkplace for self and others.

    Toact as champion where appropriate and as requested for areas such as ManualHandling, Tissue Viability, Infection Prevention & Control and Nutrition,and falls prevention.

    Toundertake a range of duties without direct supervision but will be required toreport back on those delegated duties to a Registered nurse.

    Performand maintain area specific and generic competencies in line with core standardswithout direct support from a Registered Nurse.

    Performand record Blood Glucose levels utilising blood glucose monitoring equipment;perform and record urine testing as per Trust Procedure, reporting any concernsto the Registered Nurse on duty.

    Performpatient assessment, implement and evaluate individual care plans, utilisingnursing models, using practical and theoretical knowledge.

    Demonstrateability to plan and deliver high standards of care.

    Measure,monitor and record the following vital signs as requested:

    Temperature,Blood Pressure, Pulse, Respiration Rate, Blood Glucose

    OxygenSaturation

    RecordECG Single Channel/Multi Channel

    NationalEarly Warning Score

    Takethe appropriate action in response to the patients vital signs in accordancewith the Trust National Early Warning Score system (NEWS).

    Identifyand report to a Registered Nurse clinical risk issues that impact on thepatients /clients health or social care needs.

    Followingappropriate training and competency assessment, carry out the following:

    oVenepuncture

    oCarryout care for the acutely ill patient

    oPerformelectrocardiograph (ECG) procedures, record and report

    oRemovalof Clips and Sutures

    oUndertake complex dressings.

    Recordand monitor relevant patient data accurately, and ensuring it is timely andlegible, and ensure that documentation is in line with Trust policy.

    Escalateany safeguarding concerns identified to the Registered Nurse and follow Trustpolicies and guidelines in terms of on-going management, escalation and care.

    Maintainexcellent communication with patients and relatives.

    Demonstratea variety of communication skills for patients and relatives who have specialneeds.

    Demonstrateexcellent customer care skills as a role model to others.

    Recogniseand be able to respond to aggressive behaviour, and utilise de-escalationtechniques.

    Assistwith ward/department administration as necessary to promote a consistentapproach to care delivery of the highest standard monitoring stock levels,preparing notes, relevant charts, communicating messages, obtaining results.

    Ensurethat correct procedures are followed in the event of an incident or accidentinvolving patients or staff.

    Tobe responsible for own practice.

    Maintainresponsibility for the identification of own continuing educational needs anddevelopment.

  • Registration with the NMC as a nursing associate
