Range £57,500.00 to £65,000.00
Job Purpose
Reporting to the Refinery Lead you will support the delivery of the Refinery's performance objectives within Quality, Environment, Safety & Health (QESH); cost management; technical budget delivery; engineering reliability and compliance; continuous improvement, housekeeping, capability, and team development.
Your core accountabilities
- Safety leadership: developing a culture leading to zero lost time injuries and the delivery of all elements aligned with business goals.
- Lead the operation of the site's Wastewater Treatment Plant and water management activities to meet the current and future needs of the site operation in compliance with site environmental conditions
- Optimise new Wastewater Treatment Plant such that it underpins the site's journey to effective and compliant water management
- Raise awareness, develop and coach knowledge & ownership of Wastewater Treatment operations on site within the wider site team
- Drive strong relationship with local Agricultural team to maximise efficiency & effectiveness of soil excavation in out of campaign period
- Work with cross site peer group to share best practice and implement 'Control Tower' approach to business Wastewater Treatment operations
- Develop a people plan in your area with clear focus on leading, coaching and motivating a flexible and capable team who embody the British Sugar values and leadership model.
- Provide day to day operational support to Shift Performance Manager as well as direct line reports & wider Refinery members to enable the achievement of objectives and delivery of operational plan.
- Support the Refinery leadership team in delivering the S&OP plan.
- Support capability across the Refinery in line with the site's Factory of the Future plan.
- Analyse factory performance data and recommend appropriate remedial action to ensure continuous optimisation of throughput, energy, extraction, process chemicals and product quality
- Working closely with relevant stakeholders, drive forward automation and improvement plans for the plant, ensuring our metrics embed the continuous improvement journey to support our factory of the future ambition.
- Work in partnership with other Area Process Leads and technical support functions across the sites to ensure best practice is identified, captured, shared and implemented across the business.
- Capability to develop a clear commercial understanding to drive performance.
- Deputise for the Refinery Lead and support financial governance within budget requirements.
Critical Skills, Knowledge and Competencies
- Experience of successfully leading high performing technical manufacturing teams.
- Proven record of effective problem solving/fault diagnosis.
- Continuous improvement mindset with a manufacturing excellence focus.
- Budget and cost management experience.
- Good communication/coaching/influence skills.
- Strong IT skills particularly MS Excel.
- Ability to organise and prioritise.
- Works on own initiative and ability to work as part of a team.
