- Have or be about to obtain* a PhD in Microbiology, or related biological/biomedical research area. (*within 3 months of commencement of employment
- Relevant research experience to include the following:
- Recent relevant experience and knowledge in molecular microbiology including nucleic acid extraction and qPCR from environmental or clinical samples.
- Recent relative experience in aseptic technique, microbial culturing and working with pathogens
- Demonstrable experience of handling high throughput sequencing data and associated metadata.
- Publication record commensurate with stage of career.

The School of Biological Sciences at Queen's University Belfast, is currently seeking to recruit a talented Research Fellow.
The postholder will be an active member of a cross-Faculty research team monitoring pathogen levels and antimicrobial resistance within selected wastewater treatment plants and nursing home sites across Northern Ireland. The project will involve the routine sampling of wastewater treatment facilities and nursing home sites alongside the analysis of these samples for a range of pathogen and antimicrobial resistance markers using culturomics, qPCR and whole genome sequencing.
