Key responsibilities include:

  • To be responsible for the production of monthly management accounts to deadlines showing performance against budget and to review these on a formal basis with Senior Management Team (SMT) members and Heads of Departments/School, investigating and interpretingvariances against budget.
  • To support SMT and budget managers in specific management accounting tasks including production of business cases, identification of cost savings, and the preparation of bid documentation for project funds.
  • Working as a member of the Management Accounts Team, to be responsible for the preparation of budgets and quarterly re-forecasts to tight deadlines for the University and each SMT area.
  • To set up approved projects on the finance system and provide financial monitoring information to project managers.
  • To be an effective strategic finance Business Partner to SMT members and budget managers responsible for Academic Schools and Professional Service functions.
  • To take a lead role in the understanding and interpretation of one of our key funding streams and particular project activities including the development of Business cases as required.
  • To work closely with the relevant HR business partner ensuring that staffing Establishment information is maintained consistent with staffing budgets.
  • To assist in the production of the year-end financial statements in accordance with the appropriate SORP and Financial Reporting Standards.
  • To work with, support and develop the Management Accountants and Assistant Management Accountants reviewing work and providing advice and guidance on policy, procedure and practice on an ongoing basis.
To be considered for the position your profile will be similar to the following:

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Experience supporting nonfinance staff with annual budgets.
This role is paying from £42,000-£51,800.

28 days holiday (inclusive of Christmas shut down) + bank holidays.

17.5% pension contribution.

This role offers 3 a hybrid working pattern, 3 days home, 2 days office.
