Job Title: Planning Policy Team Leader

Salary: £51,201 - £57,238 (including local weighting) + £3,500 Market Supplement

Working Arrangements: Full time - Requirement to be in the office 2- 3 days per week.

Location: Hertford

Panoramic Associates is exclusively working to support East Herts District Council in recruiting an experienced Planning Policy Team Leader to join their team.

Join the ninth busiest planning team in the country at East Herts District Council, where you will face a stimulating and diverse workload dealing with various policy challenges and issues.

This role goes beyond a typical job; it's a chance to make a lasting impact on East Herts. With new political leadership and an upcoming review of the District Plan, you'll play a crucial role in shaping the future right from the beginning.

We are currently looking for a dedicated policy planner to assist in creating the framework that guides development decisions in the district.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and oversee a team of planning policy officers, offering guidance, support, and direction to ensure project success.
Create and execute planning policies and strategies that encourage sustainable development, economic growth, and social inclusion.
Evaluate the effectiveness of planning policies, proposing enhancements based on data analysis and feedback.
Engage with various stakeholders, including residents, businesses, community groups, and government bodies.
Attend meetings, conferences, and public events on behalf of the local authority, advocating for planning priorities and fostering positive relationships with external partners.

Person Specification:

Holder of a graduate and/or postgraduate degree in Planning or a relevant field.
Full membership of or eligibility for full membership of a recognized professional body related to the team's work, e.g., the Royal Town Planning Institute.
Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of planning policy and strategy.
Prior experience in managing and assisting a team or junior staff members.
Possession of a current full driving license and willingness to be insured for work-related driving purposes.
Previous work experience in a local authority environment.
