Sheffield Institute of Education is appointing a Quantitative Research Fellow to contribute to excellence and expansion of mixed methods research, evaluation, and knowledge exchange projects with significant quantitative strands.


The Fellow will work with colleagues as part of a team on a range of projects in the fields of education, sociology, and psychology, contributing to the writing of contract research bids and grants, delivery of projects, data collection and analyses and writing reports and academic papers.


They will work with quantitative, mixed methods and qualitative specialists on research and evaluation projects which deploy experimental and/or quasi-experimental research designs, design and undertake surveys, access and analyse administrative data and play a key role in managing complex projects (including Randomised Controlled Trials).


This role will suit people with comfort and experience in quantitative design and analysis who are willing/able to work closely with qualitative colleagues on the same project to deliver and disseminate mixed methods research and evaluation projects in a coherent and useful way.


You might have previous experience in undertaking quantitative research and evaluation and/or completed a Masters degree or doctorate in Education or a relevant social science discipline which included a notable quantitative element.


This is a temporary/fixed-term role for two years with plans to extend or make permanent if/when we can demonstrate evidence of increased success (and income) in research, evaluation and knowledge exchange work.

The Fellow will be based in Sheffield Institute of Education's Centre for Research and Knowledge Exchange (SIRKE), the home for funded research, knowledge exchange, innovation and consultancy in Sheffield Institute of Education.


We have been developing and delivering educational research, evaluation and knowledge exchange locally, nationally and internationally for over thirty years.

Our staff includes experts in research, evaluation, knowledge exchange and professional development. We are social and education researchers, statisticians, curriculum designers, evaluators, teacher educators and so much more.


The team is academically-focused with a strong empirical evidential base, partnership-orientated, cooperative and collaborative with a deep understanding of realities outside academia.
