- Lead the development of policy on international climate change and environment issues
- Offer high-quality policy advice and briefings on policy matters to senior officials, the Chancellor, and other ministers to assist their international engagements, negotiations, and policy priorities
- Collaborate across HM Treasury and the Government to advance HMT's interests, particularly working in close partnership with FCDO, DESNZ, and DEFRA
- Contribute the UK's perspective on climate finance topics within the G7, G20, and the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action
- Support and coordinate HMT's finance and economic interests in the Conferences of the Parties (COPs) for the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and UN Convention on Biological Diversity (UNCBD)

About the Team
We are seeking to hire an International Climate & Environment Policy Adviser within the Global Issues and Governance (GIG) team in the International Group. This team, comprising the Global Issues Unit and the Multilateral Unit, provides significant support to the Chancellor and senior officials in the UK's major multilateral economic relationships, such as the G7 and G20 Finance tracks, and addresses crucial global issues like health and climate change.

This role offers a fascinating blend of international relationship management and shaping both international and domestic policy. Effective policymaking involves identifying necessary changes and solutions while aiding Ministers in achieving the best outcomes. It also entails devising and executing plans to implement those changes or solutions.
No specific policy background or qualifications are required to apply for the role of Policy Adviser at HM Treasury. We seek individuals with the right skill set for the position, who embody our organization's values, and who are eager to collaborate with us on critical issues concerning government expenditure and public services.
About You
The ideal candidate will possess the ability to foster productive relationships with individuals of varying roles and perspectives. This includes swiftly establishing credible senior relationships and working closely with a broad network of domestic and international peers.
