We're looking for a kind, compassionate and resilient Engagement Worker to join our Homelessness service in Westminster. No personal care or experience is required, just the right values.

The post holder will work at Edward Alsop Court Hostel, an all-male supported accommodation service for men with complex needs supporting them with complex substance use, mental and physical health, and offending behaviours, and those who are nearing their end of life.

The project offers 24-hour high support providing 79 bed spaces,10 of which are health beds for step down patients being referred into the service by nearby hospitals, GP surgeries and WCC Rough Sleepers Pathway.


The Engagement Worker's role will be to work at Edward Alsop Court Hostel to help connect people in the Westminster Homelessness Pathways with services and activities in the local community.

The post holder will help create and maintain contacts in the area to provide the best opportunities to customers in our service

Edward Alsop Court implements and promotes the Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE) model.

This is an approach to supporting people out of homelessness, those who have experienced complex trauma or are diagnosed with a personality disorder.


It also considers the psychological needs of staff:
developing skills and knowledge, increasing motivation, job satisfaction and resilience.


This role has a shift pattern of 9am-5pm Monday to Friday, admin days upon request with possibility of WFH to complete them.

What you'll do:


  • Postholders will be required to demonstrate strengths in all the indicators set out in the relevant Look Ahead Competency Model.
  • Create, develop and maintain a network of communitybased organisations which offer support to the client group
  • Work closely with and to maintain good working relationships with external bodies for example Local Authorities, Primary Care Trusts, Gyms, Support services, Education or Training, other positive activities, and Voluntary Providers.
  • Promote the work of Edward Court to external organisations.
  • Attend internal and external meetings where appropriate and as requested (for example Team and customer meetings, and MDTs).
  • To maintain a high standard of record keeping and keep all financial and administrative systems uptodate and in line with policy.
  • To ensure that all written work both for internal and external use is of a high good standard.
  • To create or contribute to reports relating to the role and work undertaken with staff, customers, internally and stakeholders or auditors.
  • To attend Team meetings and other meetings as directed by the Management team.
  • To hold regular review meetings with customers and external agencies.
  • To keep files, handovers and data base systems updated on daily outcomes achieved and customer engagement
  • Cover for other members of the team and division as necessary
  • Being proactive in reviewing and evaluating own performance and identifying and acting upon areas for improvement and development.
  • Undertaking, as required, any other duties compatible with the level and nature of the post and/or reasonably required by managers
  • Attend and participate in team meetings and other meetings as required.
  • Ensure health and safety and welfare checks are adhered to in accordance with Look Ahead' Health & Safety procedures.
  • Support social inclusion, health, and wellbeing related activities as inreach/outreach within the service, facilitating sessions such as mindfulness, yoga and acupuncture.
