External Audit Delivery Manager - Ipswich, United Kingdom - AXA Group

    Default job background
    Full time
    Description

Our External Audit Delivery Manager plays a crucial role in managing the lifecycle of the external audit engagement. You'll serve as a key contact and liaison between the business, IT teams and auditors to oversee and manage the end-to-end audit engagement, ensuring that external audit deliverables are complete and accurate, regulations are adhered to, and the group and statutory reporting timetable is managed and communicated. You'll also work across various stakeholder groups in finance, both internally and externally, to enable efficiency and value adding processes across the audit lifecycle.

At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least 40% of your week away from home, either at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events.

    What you'll be doing:

  • Manage the end-to-end external audit engagement including half year, year-end, and any non-audit services (NAS) engagements.
  • Liaise with other teams outside Finance, including IFC and IT, to ensure audit deliverables are delivered to time and expected quality.
  • Communicate and manage the audit timetable to inform responsible parties and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Lead AXA's use of KPMG's Clara tool, ensuring all actions and deliverables are captured, escalations initiated, and regular KPI reporting is in place.
  • Identify and promote best practice methods for audit areas and process improvement opportunities associated with the audit process.
  • Provide AXA data to KMPG, ensuring requirements are anticipated and understood, and data extraction and delivery processes are well controlled, industrialised and automated.
  • Implement effective KPI reporting to senior stakeholders to ensure the audit status is communicated and understood, and any issues are removed.
  • Oversee the Audit Fee budget on behalf of the Head of Group Accounting and Reporting, ensuring all costs are fully understood; payments and accruals made as appropriate.
  • Due to the number of applications we expect to receive for this role, we reserve the right to close this advert earlier than the listed closing date to ensure we're able to effectively manage interest. Therefore, if you're interested in joining us at AXA, please don't hesitate to apply.

    Your Profile

We know that some candidates may be discouraged from applying if they don't meet every requirement. If you're excited by this job and the prospect of working at AXA but you're not sure you tick every box, we'd still encourage you to apply.

    What we're looking for:

  • Ability to influence multiple finance and non-finance stakeholders to achieve desired results.
  • Significant personal experience of external audit assignments, preferably as an auditor.
  • Qualified accountant or qualified by experience.
  • Exceptional organisational skills.
  • Confident in applying project management principles to manage complex timetables and deliverables to tight deadlines.
  • Lead and support other non-audit ad hoc Finance projects and initiatives as required.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively through multiple channels, challenging and influencing people at all levels.
  • As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.
