Main Purpose of the Role
Reporting to the site crafts-team supervisor, the Craftsperson (PC7) will be responsible for fault diagnosis, maintenance and repair of equipment across all areas of plant as well as carrying out routine maintenance activities.
Working in an efficient and proactive manner, in accordance with RWE safety rules and procedures, you will require mínimal Supervision.
This is primarily a day working role but you must be prepared to provide cover outside normal working hours and to work shifts and weekends if required.
You should be aware that the role includes working in confined spaces, at heights and inall weathers.
In addition to maintenance duties there will be a requirement to support other sections, for example operations teams, storekeeping duties and general site duties as allocated.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the Power Station is a safe place to work and actively contribute to its safe, efficient and costeffective running
- Be responsible for the quality of your own work, recording of activities carried out,
- recommendations for future activities
- Ensure that all safety and environmental issues are reported immediately
- Work to a level of productivity in line with business requirements, whilst maintaining
- and at the end of your work
- Undertake both routine and emergent maintenance activities relevant to the discipline as directed by chargehand or supervisor
- Understand station process as required, for example stores, booking of spares, quality assurance systems, maintenance management systems etc.
- Take a proactive approach to improvements to maintenance activities, and supporting station maintenance and operations as required
- Work closely with maintenance engineers and technicians to resolve repeat or unusual defects
Knowledge & Skills
- A proactive and technically sound approach to Safety, Quality of Work and the achievement of Company and team Goals
- A positive and proactive team focused attitude
- A minimum of NVQ level 3 in an engineering discipline
- Be Apprentice trained with at least 1 years relevant experience
- Competence in the use of basic IT systems
- A high degree of selfreliance, selfmotivation, selfconfidence and working time flexibility
- The ability to make decisions in a pressurised environment
- Excellent communication skills
- The ability to develop good working relationships with those at all levels within the organisation
Discipline Specific:
Electrical:
- Demonstrable experience on electrical equipment associated with heavy industry, including motors, switchgear (up to 6.6kV), actuators, battery and DC systems, hazardous area equipment, general electrical installations and fault investigation and diagnostics
- Understanding of generators, excitation systems, and brushgear including maintenance.
- Understanding, knowledge and experience of DSEAR and ATEX regulations
Control and Instrumentation:
- Able to demonstrate experience and technical knowledge of state of the
- actuators, chemical analysers etc.
- HMI, PLC experience and knowledge desirable
- Pneumatic and hydraulic control valve set up and fault diagnosis, positioners and servos.
- Understanding, knowledge and experience of DSEAR and ATEX regulations
- Able to work competently and reliably on safety instrumented systems, DCS systems and hazardous area equipment.
