Simpson Judge are working with a non-profit organisation seeking for a qualified individual to provide accountancy and financial management of the organisations processes and systems during an exciting period of transition.


This is a 6 month contract with the potential for this to become a permanent position, this organisation are also offering hybrid working and flexible working hours.


Duties

  • Act as the lead financial specialist for the organisation and being responsible for the overall management of the finances
  • Establish a financial management software system and implement the required processes and procedures to ensure the benefits of the systems are maximised
  • To oversee the financial performance and lead budgeting processes, including formulation of section budgets, monitoring budgets and providing advice as requested
  • To provide advice/guidance to fundraising team to assist in the monitoring and evaluation of fundraising activities to maximise resources
  • To review/critique the organisations current financial processes and recommend, where needed, robust systems of financial controls to mitigate the risk of fraud and error. Maintain the standing financial orders
  • To assist the Head of Charity with business planning/ medium term financial strategy including making judgements regarding allocation of finances and making financial decisions and risk where there is no precedent
  • To foster a culture of financial responsibility and value for money, developing systems of scrutiny to ensure best value in all expenditure
  • To remain up up to date on best practices in nonprofit finance and statutory law regarding the organisations governance and financial operations

Person Specification

  • Qualified ( preferably ACA)
  • Proven success in developing strong personal relationships internally and externally
  • Experience of internal/external partnership working at a senior level with other organisations
  • Computer literate
  • Demonstrate ability to make sound judgements in complex situations
  • Experience working in a large complex organisation
  • Effective budgetary management control
  • Financial management software packages
  • Experience of business planning

Desirable

  • Business management qualification
  • Evidence of understanding charity finances, including restricted funds and designated funds
