- Research and evaluation of new technologies and installations related to the vessel environmental performance and efficiency.
- In consultation with the Head of Energy Efficiency and Performance, prepare investment plans and strategies to ensure vessels meet environmental and energy efficiency targets. Negotiate proposals for retrofits and prepare contracts with suppliers.
- Support the Technical Manager to manage and deliver projects and initiatives as assigned, ensuring comprehensive completion and formal handover to vessel's crew.
- Assist the planning, preparation, and project management for initial scoping of retrofits and wet docks within their areas of responsibility both technically and budgets.
- Monitor and produce reports on the performance of the retrofit installations.
- Support the energy management team with energy baselines, vessel, and engine performance analysis, and helping to maintain ISO accreditation.
- Promptly and professionally respond to incoming messages from vessels, Class, Flag States, service providers and manning agents.
- Effectively report on the vessel's engine and hull performance, and the outcome of the retrofit installations to relevant stakeholders.
- Advise on energy efficiency and environmental matters and to maintain open communication with all departments, offices, vessels, and external quality departments.
- Identify risks and opportunities relative to EMS, EnMS and ship efficiency.
- Attending ships and retrofits as and when required.
- Effective administration of various documents and databases.
- Ability to analyse and assess large amounts of data and obtain conclusions.
- Management of high-frequency marine engine and vessel performance data to produce assessment reports as necessary.
- Maintaining a coherent filing system, regularly review and amend as necessary.
- Review and update company QMS on a regular basis. Liaise with other departments where required.
- Assist the energy management team as required to help maintain the ISO accreditation.
- Assist with training of ship staff including Master, C/E, C/O and I/E briefings.
- MSc in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture or a related Engineering field is a requirement for this role.
- Previous shore-based and data management experience within shipping is a requirement for this role.
- Familiarisation with applicable ISO standards, IMO and EU legislation is a requirement for this role.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of ship management, operations, and its QA systems.
- Highly effective at building and sustaining relationships with all stakeholders, even in challenging situations.
- Well-developed numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with strategic thinking ability, to support decisions with sound reasoning and judgement.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills to facilitate and maintain strong relationships with staff at various levels and departments within the business. Clear, precise and confident in verbal and written communication to support credibility and position of expertise.

Position: Performance Engineer
Reporting to: Head of Energy Efficiency and Performance
Contract type: Permanent
Overview of role
Actively promote and deliver technical analysis and understanding of the initiatives required to support the required improvement in energy efficiency and environmental performance. Work closely with onboard crew and shoreside stakeholders to ensure accurate understanding of current energy and environmental baselines. Assess the effectiveness of several energy efficiency and environmental initiatives and develop an implementation plan. Advise and lead necessary changes in operation of existing ships, energy efficiency and environmental performance projects. Provide support to the energy management team according to ISO objectives.
