    Deputy Headteacher

    About the role.

At Harborne Primary School the phrase 'Happy Pupils Succeed' embodies our philosophy. We see ourselves as a learning community where everyone works together on behalf of the children to maintain a happy and caring ethos in which children can achieve high standards and be successful learners.

Harborne Primary School was established in 2000 after the amalgamation of the Infant and Junior Schools, both of which had been at Station Road for 100 years. It is a four form entry Primary School, with two sites. The school expanded in 2019 to include the Annex, located on the Court Oak Road approximately a mile away from the Station Road site.

Our children come from a wide range of backgrounds, but all have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH). Many will also have other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) such as Autism, ADHD, and communication difficulties.

The work we do is both varied and challenging, all staff are provided with extensive training and support. Our closely triangulated approach places the child at the centre of decision making, ensuring that education and therapy professionals, parent/carers, local authority teams and most importantly our pupils can work together to secure outstanding outcomes for all.

    The role.

Harborne Primary School is looking for an outstanding leader who embodies the school vision and can live out our ethos throughout their daily practice. Our school will ensure that the Deputy Head Teacher will be well supported, allowing them to focus on what is important and develop professionally.

There will be a teaching element within this role.

    The right person

    • a leader who will inspire and motivate colleagues and pupils to achieve their goals

    • has excellent interpersonal and communication skills

    • is committed to research and evidence based practice to enhance pedagogy

    • will encourage outstanding behaviour

    • has high expectations for our pupils

    • will ensure an inclusive environment for all pupils

    • a leader who is committed to a high standard of safeguarding for pupils and families

    • is an excellent classroom practitioner

All school staff should be aware of the school's Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy and work in accordance with this document at all times. Harborne Primary is an equal-opportunity employer that is committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace. As we continue to grow, we know that we must have the most talented employees with diverse backgrounds, cultures, perspectives, and experiences to support our children and young people.
