    This role leads the Asset & Liability Management Risk ('ALM Risk') team and covers operational risk for the Treasury and Savings (T&S) Division, which are part of the second line Risk function in Close Brothers, leading a team of 6. This role will have dual reporting into the Head of Prudential Regulation and Head of Operational Risk.

    ALM Risk provides second line oversight, check and challenge over Close Brother's liquidity, funding and non-traded market risks. This, together with the wider oversight of operational risks, seeks to ensure Close Brothers is managing these risks within agreed risk appetites, and in accordance with the relevant policies and standards.

    This role will provide expert advisory and opinion in support of risk and controls transformation, ALM system and data enhancement, framework and methodology maturity including reporting and measurement, working closely across all lines of defence.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Funding, Liquidity and Non-Traded Market Risk:

    • Support enhancements to our ALM system as the core analytical and stress testing tool to inform expert judgement on balance sheet optimisation and non-traded market risk management.
    • Deliver enhanced ALM risk analytics to senior management through dynamic modelling and forward-looking analytics
    • Provide lending businesses and treasury with appropriate forward-looking dynamic stress simulations and analytics to support on funding and liquidity decisions shaping the balance sheet
    • Provide oversight to bank's Funding & Liquidity risk including review of the Funding plan, stress testing and Treasury strategic initiatives
    • In depth review, oversight and check and challenge of the ILAAP document
    • Effective ALM risks assessments and measurement framework, focussing on check and challenge of business and treasury assumptions and limitations

    Risk Management:

    • Provide independent and robust oversight and challenge relating to T&S management of risks and controls, and embedding of the non-financial risk framework and methodology
    • Provide advisory and support activities including risk and control assessments, key risk indicators, issue and incident management and control assurance
    • Challenge and provide independent opinion on periodic reporting of risk and controls, KRIs, KPIs and KCIs

    People:

    • Provide oversight and direction to employees in accordance with the firm's policies, procedures, standards
    • Support and develop a culture of performance management, improvement, and appraisal as a foundation for excellent organisational performance.
    • Provide customer focussed outcomes and solutions to stakeholder requirements and overcome obstacles to delivery.
    • Develop relationships with all key stakeholders particularly with the Treasurer, business credit, operational risk, risk and finance directors and their teams

    WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE/ARE:

    • A Degree in finance or similar, with significant experience in a risk related role
    • A significantly experienced risk practitioner or treasury professional with solid understanding of ALM, Market, Funding, and liquidity Risk
    • Experience on Balance sheet analysis and interpretation in a manner that is concise and digestible in order to support business objectives and balance sheet strategy
    • Knowledge of ILAAP, ICAAP and Recovery Plan requirements
    • Experience of operational risk management frameworks and methodologies
    • Detailed orientated with broad understanding of treasury related financial and non financial risks

    IT IS NOT ESSENTIAL BUT IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU HAVE/ARE:

    • Professional certification in a relevant discipline, such as Diploma in Treasury Management (AMCT), Institute of Risk Management (IRM) or Certificate in Operational Risk Management
    • Implementation experience of new Retail Savings and Treasury products
    • Experience on leading projects
