Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic registered chemotherapy nurse, or experienced band 5 staff nurse wishing to become chemo competent by undertaking SACT training, to join our Cancer Nursing Team at our sister unit at Pembury Hospital.
You will work within the team to provide outstanding clinical support and care for patients under the care of the Oncology/Haematology Department.
Patients are offered expert clinical care which is compassionate and individualised.You should be visible and accessible with quality and standards as your priority. You will need to be flexible and resilient in order to cope with the demands of the role.
You will be expected to adopt a holistic, pro-active and dynamic approach, being responsible for the delivery of a high standard of care and service to the patients.
You will in association with your colleagues be required to support patients and their carers on all aspects of their care, be they newly diagnosed, or being treated with palliative intent.
SACT (chemotherapy) trained nurses are offered a band 6 post.Ongoing academic and clinical professional development.
All trained SACT nurses are remunerated as a band 6

First level registered nurse registered with Nursing and Midwifery CouncilThorough and up-to-date knowledge of nursing theory and best practice at the level of a newly qualified nurse.
Understanding of equality and diversity and how to apply it to self.
Understanding of NMC Code and requirements of it for own practice and behaviour.
Experience at Band 5 in an acute setting.
Able to assess plan, implement and evaluate specialist care delivered to patients / clients and give relevant advice / information to patients and relatives
To include dealing with distressed relatives, care of terminally ill and other challenging situations
Is able to manage team and individual performance
