Senior Scientist Molecular Biology - United Kingdom - Achilles Therapeutics Limited

    Default job background
    Description

Achilles Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of T cell therapies targeting clonal neoantigens for the treatment of cancer.

We use DNA sequencing data from each patient, together with our proprietary PELEUS bioinformatics platform, to identify clonal neoantigens specific to that patient and develop personalised T cell therapies.

Originating from pioneering research at UCL, CRUK and the Francis Crick Institute, we are using our ground-breaking immuno-oncology approach to rapidly advance therapies and have two programs in the clinic for the treatment of Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer and Melanoma.

    Role Purpose
We are seeking a diligent and organised individual to join our Translational Science Immune Monitoring group in Hammersmith.

This is a 12-month fixed term contract role, where you will be an integral part of a team that is at the forefront of scientific discovery.

Our laboratory is dedicated to supporting the collection, processing, and analysis of Translational Science samples derived from clinical trial patients who have been administered our product.

We perform a range of immunoassays and data analysis to investigate immune response in trial patients, and operate to a high level of compliance aligned with Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP).

We are seeking candidates with a robust immunology background and hands-on experience in running immunoassays.

Experience in molecular biology (RNA extraction, NGS), multicolour flow cytometry, ELISpot and/or cytokine analysis within a GxP environment would be highly advantageous.

Attention to detail, initiative, and strong team collaboration skills are essential for success in this role.

If you are passionate about contributing to the development of products that will revolutionise the landscape of cancer therapeutics and want to be a part of a cutting edge and vibrant start-up, then we would love to hear from you.

Join us in making a difference in the world of science and medicine.

    Responsibilities:

Lead and perform a range of molecular and immunoassays on clinical trial samples to support the Translational Science laboratory team.

Review, analyse, and contextualise datasets from clinical trial samples, meeting delivery timelines.
Liaise with the analysis and data management team to manage data analysis and data flagging/handling.

Support the Translational Science team to ensure collection and processing of clinical trial samples and timely delivery of data.

Generate quality documentation to support clinical trial activities (SOP's, deviations, training materials, data reports) in addition to completing laboratory assay and processing worksheets in accordance with GCLP and Good Documentation Practice (GDP) guidelines.

Interact with key stakeholders to drive cross-functional projects and data interpretation.
Train junior and new members of the team in TS procedures

    Essential:
PhD (or equivalent experience) in immunology or relevant subject
    Laboratory experience within industry
Demonstrable knowledge of cancer biology and immunology
Experience working with human biological samples.
Extensive experience running immunoassays and/or molecular assays, including assay development and troubleshooting
Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills, strong written skills and attention to detail
Good communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrable ability to foster strong working relationships and show initiative.
    Excellent attention to detail
    Proficiency with MS Office
Flexibility to accommodate out of hours working (evenings and weekends – time-in-lieu system in place)

    Desirable:
Experience working in a regulated laboratory environment e.g., GLP, GMP or GCLP
Experience of analysing data from clinical trials
Experience writing and reviewing quality documentation (SOP's, deviations, filenotes, etc.)
Working knowledge of Human Tissue Authority legislation
At Achilles you will enjoy a flexible and dynamic working environment that fosters creativity, leadership and teamwork.

We offer benefits that include a competitive salary and performance related bonus, group pension plan matched up to 6%, life insurance, private medical insurance and an employee share incentive scheme.
