Description
Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has opened up for a creative Ward Manager to lead our 18-bed Acute Cardiology Ward, including high care beds at Fairfield General Hospital. You'll be joining a proactive, enthusiastic, and skilled team dedicated to achieving excellence in cardiology.
The successful candidate will oversee and supervise the team to provide top-notch care, ensure efficient patient pathways, and uphold safe clinical settings with round-the-clock responsibility for adequate staffing. They must have a wealth of experience in Cardiology and a background in senior leadership roles.
They will play a critical role in providing safe, efficient, and high-quality care to patients with acute and chronic heart conditions. Leading by example, they will possess outstanding organizational skills and effective communication abilities.
They will steer their team through transitions to enhance the Cardiology service according to the Trust's vision, promoting positive patient outcomes and service enhancements.
Main Duties of the Job
The selected candidate will manage all ward staff and uphold the trust's values, including overseeing inductions, appraisals, roster creation, recruitment and retention, performance management, and continuous staff training and development. They will ensure sickness and absence are managed in line with policies and take appropriate actions. Acting as a visible role model, they will ensure smooth flow to the Acute Cardiology Ward.

This vacancy is open to individuals with a current NMC PIN for practicing as a Registered Nurse or Midwife in the UK, or those on track to receive their full NMC PIN within the next 3 months. Possession of an NMC PRN PIN does not meet the essential criteria for this role.
The NCA is no longer accepting applications from International Nurses and Midwives who have not completed all competencies required to obtain a full NMC PIN in the UK, as the OSCE program has been paused indefinitely. Visit the NMC website for details on obtaining a full NMC PIN for future application eligibility.
