As a Food Specification Technologist, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and compliance of our products while keeping abreast of the latest legislation and industry standards.


Key Responsibilities:

Specification Management:
Ensure raw material specifications are accurate, up to date, and approved before new product launches.
Regularly review raw material specifications and maintain the matrix.
Oversee the accuracy, approval, and maintenance of packaging specifications for new product launches.
Manage and maintain the packaging specification matrix.

Artwork and Labeling:
Timely approval of all artwork for product packaging.
Check artwork to ensure compliance, correctness, and alignment with specifications.
Manage the onsite label printing process, ensuring alignment with the production schedule.

Finished Product Specifications:
Write finished product specifications for all active SKUs.
Review finished product specifications at appropriate intervals and maintain the matrix.

Customer Support:
Provide technical and labeling support for customer queries.
Ensure all products comply with relevant labeling legislation for export markets.

Compliance and Legislation:
Stay updated on changes in food regulations, labeling requirements, and industry standards.
Make necessary adjustments to product specifications and labeling to ensure compliance.

Auditing and Documentation:
Conduct regular audits of existing product specifications and related documentation.
Identify and address discrepancies or non-compliance issues.
Provide reports and complete questionnaires and databases as required.

Specification Development and Maintenance:
Assist in the development and maintenance of company policies in line with new legislation, customer requirements, and company standards.
Keep up-to-date with legislation changes to ensure company compliance and communicate these changes internally.

Nutrition and Shelf Life Analysis:
Ensure that new products are analyzed according to customer requirements for nutrition and shelf life.

Customer Visits:
Attend customer visits on and off-site when required.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Essential: A qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field.
  • Essential: HACCP, Auditing, or Food Safety qualification.
  • Desirable: Experience in a foodbased technical role.
  • Desirable: Experience working with retailers or major food brands.

Skills Required:

  • Good understanding of food manufacturing processes.
  • Indepth knowledge of UK food regulations, labeling requirements, and industry standards.
  • Knowledge of international food regulations and standards.
  • Strong understanding of NPD and Technical processes.
  • Selforganized approach and the ability to plan workloads.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of food raw materials, packaging, and customer complaints.


As a Food Specification Technologist in our pastry and cake production facility, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality, compliance, and labeling accuracy of our products.

Your expertise and attention to detail will contribute to our commitment to delivering exceptional baked goods to our customers while staying in line with food regulations and industry standards.


Salary:
£27,500.00-£32,500.00 per year


Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • London, NW10 6PE: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:


  • Food Technologist or very similar: 3 years (preferred)

Work authorisation:

  • United Kingdom (required)
