Commercial Finance Manager, Research Services, London, £65,000
A global research services business are looking for a Commercial Finance Manager to join their team.

The Senior Finance Manager will play a key part in the finance team and act as an effective team member, helping to implement new processes and procedures,whilst help to keep the business continually innovating and ensuring the smooth running of the day-to-day financial operations.

With accurate and timely reporting, to help develop financial processes and systems that meet the current and future needs of the business and support the Finance Director in the development of Best-in-Class Finance Function.


The role:

  • Owns and leads monthend close process with a key focus on accurate revenue recognition and robust project accounting
  • Calculation of accrued/deferred WIP schedules to ensure robust revenue recognition
  • Soft close revenue update to Finance Director
  • Develop and maintain strict working capital processes to minimise accrued income and maximise cash position
  • Maintain visibility and accuracy of key departments e.g. Cost of Sales (COS) & Sales, General and Administration (SG&A) and costs are apportioned accurately
  • Develop cost centre analysis ensuring FD has a clear and up to date view of spend
  • Roll forward the budget Excel pack and develop to suit current/future business needs
  • Product Corporation Tax computation back up accurately (annual)
  • Review and submit monthly treasury report for FX exposure
  • Support the continuous streamlining of financial processes to speed up the ability to produce management information, and also to improve the quality and availability of such information.
  • Assisting Project Leads with project management tasks in CMAP/project management system with Business Operations Project Manager
  • Ensure WIP and CMAP are updated with any contract amends, change orders and final reconciliations
  • Ensure the monthly financial processes are completed diligently and comprehensively so that at year end information is up to date and easily available
  • Proactively prepare and consolidate information required by auditors
  • Ensure accurate closing position by reviewing the estimated time to complete projects and restating revenue %s if required
  • Roll forward of internal reporting pack with new budget figures

About You:

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and understands the value of effective communication
  • Professional approach an ability to handle sensitive information
  • Flexible and approachable
  • Excellent organisational/project management skills. Manage incoming workload effectively for the finance team and maintain standards of excellence
  • Demonstrable experience of managing a finance function/team/ Line management experience
  • Hands on approach and willingness to get stuck in
  • Analytical with great attention to detail
  • Qualified ideally with a couple of years' PQE
