2 shift system (6am to 2pm & 1.30pm to 9.30pm) rotational

Powertrain, Marine, Engines.

The Technician will be involved in all types of maintenance and repair work which will be required during the Validation Testing of a Diesel Outboard Drive System.

Responsibilities of the Technician:


  • The fitment and removal of Engines, gearboxes, and complete drive units to test boats and test rigs as required.
  • To receive engines and gearbox from dyno, boat or testing. Dismantle, inspect, identify, and record faults found using the correct method/systems.
  • The regular inspection of test units and the recording/reporting of any issues identified.
  • Rig assembly and testing of components as required.
  • To assist Test Engineers with the commissioning of Installations prior to the boat being released for testing.
  • To ensure that all relevant faults are recorded and reported to engineering.
  • To assist with boat testing as required.

What we're looking in this role:

  • Apprenticeship in Marine or Automotive Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Significant handson experience assembling gearboxes, engines, or similar complex mechanical assemblies.
  • Must demonstrate a Continuous Improvement mindset that can be applied to the Product, Working Practices and Facility.
  • Ideally previous experience has also worked in a Small, Medium Enterprise (SME) and is able to demonstrate the ability to 'roll their sleeves up' and personally get things done as part of a small team.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and overtime as required inc travel to other sites.
  • Should be proficient with Microsoft PC software packages. (Word-Excel)
  • Clean driving license.
  • Previous experience of using Lathes, grinders, drills etc would be an advantage.
  • Powerboat level 2 would be an advantage although training will be given.
