    Description

    We are seeking a solicitor specializing in Governance & Regulatory matters.

    Job Description

    To handle all legal aspects related to criminal prosecutions, licensing work, and other legal matters as required by the business. Responsibilities include providing advice, advocacy, and attending relevant meetings/committees.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide specialist support in regulatory areas such as trading standards, enforcement actions, fraud, etc.
    • Represent clients in court proceedings.
    • Prepare and manage prosecution files, including court hearings and witness statements.
    • Analyze evidence for criminal cases and assess prospects of success.
    • Prepare for sentencing, POCA applications, and costs hearings.
    • Undertake governance work as assigned, including advocacy and advice.
    • Supervise and support other staff members.
    • Assist in implementing and upgrading IT systems and procedures.
    • Attend and advise relevant committees and panels.
    • Participate in quality and performance initiatives.
    • Contribute to customer care, quality policies, and business plans.
    • Engage in the Council's Appraisal Scheme.
    • Promote equality and sensitivity to disadvantaged individuals.
    • Adhere to Health and Safety policies.

    Requirements:

    • Qualified Solicitor/Barrister with at least 3 years of legal experience.
    • Minimum 2 years experience in prosecutions or licensing.
    • Ability to grasp details quickly.
