Description

Founded in 1922, the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) is the UK based and internationally recognised qualifying body and learned society for chemical, biochemical and process engineers.

We exist to advance chemical engineering's contribution for the benefit of society.

Position:

We are looking to recruit a Technical Knowledge Intern on a 12-month fixed term contract.

You will have completed or partially completed a degree in chemical engineering or a relevant science or engineering discipline and have demonstrable interest in the chemical process industries.

You will need to be comfortable working with volunteers to develop output.

You will have strong communication skills, be familiar with the Microsoft Office suite and have good planning and organisational skills.

Reporting to the Learned Society Manager, you will be comfortable liaising with scientists and engineers, academics, industrialists and other Institutions on a broad range of topics related to chemical and process engineering.

You will work with our network of expert members to develop tools to disseminate knowledge and good practice both to members and non-members.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a passionate team focused on developing knowledge, generating meaning and delivering influence.

Requirements:

Core responsibilities of the role include:

  • Supporting IChemE's Special Interest Groups and Communities of Practice in the development and delivery of technical knowledge-based events and projects that support IChemE's aims, as set out in IChemE's strategy and aligned with the Learned Society Priority Topics.
  • Helping members develop and deliver resources that will help others produce goods and services more sustainably, reduce the risk from highly hazardous processes, and help the profession embrace digital tools and opportunities.
  • Arranging and producing notes or minutes of meetings for the Learned Society Team, where required.
  • Supporting the development of IChemE's technical roadmap and strategy.
  • Adding value to IChemE by engaging and building relationships with members, member communities, external partners and other stakeholders.

This position is based in Rugby (CV21 3HQ) with flexible working arrangements in place meaning you will be working at least three days from the Rugby office and the remainder working from your UK home location.

There will be times when you may be required to attend the workplace on remote working days as and when IChemE requires.

Should this happen we will give you reasonable notice.

This is a full-time role based on 37.5 hours per week working Monday through to Friday.

Starting salary is circa £21,255 per annum (depending on experience) plus benefits which include an excellent pension scheme.
