Our client seeks a Head of Compliance and Risk to join their team.

Role Profile:


  • Compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Risk management processes.
  • Regulatory submissions and reporting.
  • Responsibility for the compliance and risk team.
  • To undertake the role of DMLRO for the licences and support the business in the identification and prevention of financial crime.
  • To undertake the role of MLRO for Funds and Exempt Schemes

Key Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for managing the Risk and Compliance Team to ensure all regulatory, risk and compliance work is being undertaken in line with requirements and business objectives.
  • Responsibility for ensuring risk and compliance manuals, policies and procedures comply with the regulations in place. This includes an annual review of the core documents in conjunction with the MLRO, and the communication and implementation of the same across the business.
  • To bring any areas of noncompliance or nonconformity to the attention of the Boards.
  • Responsibility for risk management processes across the business including the Risk Framework documents (for identifying and mitigating AML and business risks), risk 'appetite' and tolerance for risk and ensuring ownership and control of risk is managed across the business.
  • Responsibility for the Compliance Monitoring Programme to ensure key business risks are being monitored, that findings are formally reported, that findings are reported to the board, and that key risks are actively mitigated and addressed.
  • Responsibility for regulatory reporting including submissions, notifications and key business changes.
  • Responsibility for maintaining regulatory dialogue and good communication with the Regulator(s).
  • To be a Member of the Executive Committee.
  • Dealing with escalated complex compliance matters as required.
  • To provide compliance advice on funds and closed ended structures and to support the Governance team and Fund accountants.
  • To identify any financial crime triggers and carry out investigations.
  • Responsibility for consideration of high risk, PEPs and simplified due diligence related clients, in conjunction with the MLRO.
  • Provide support, assistance and guidance to the business on CDD/EDD related matters (e.g. complex structures), mitigating risk where possible.
  • Ensure AML Business and Technology Risk Assessments are in place, compliant and up to date, and reported to the Governing Body of Funds/Exempt Schemes at least annually.
  • To be involved with the development of the business strategy in the context of providing advice in relation to structural materials, legal and governance framework and regulatory, risk and compliance requirements.

Key Skills and Experience:


  • An excellent knowledge of AML/CFT regulations in the IOM.
  • A thorough understanding of investment management and collective investment scheme regulation and compliance requirements in the IOM.
  • A good understanding of UK Listing Rules, FCA requirements and TISE requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • At least 5 years' experience in a senior compliance/MLRO role.
  • A relevant professional qualification, degree or diploma desirable.

£70,000.00-£100,000.00 per year
