The role

The difference our new IP Network Lead will make
As an IP Network Lead, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Supporting vital MILSATCOM Service Delivery operations with secure, resilient and high availability services.

Extensive voice and data networks operating around the globe must be maintained, while delivering a significant programme of upgrade and new build.

Reporting to the Head of Transformation, you'll also be the lead for secure IP Networks as part of multi-million pound programme of improvement.

This is a fast-paced, challenging role on a significant project.


Day to day, you'll own, design and troubleshoot Enterprise IP Networks, driving change using the latest Cisco based technology, removing obsolescence and introducing innovation.

You'll work closely with the modelling team to create and operationalise Network Digital Twin and with the engineering team to test and integrate IP Network designs in response to strategic and operational demands.

You'll represent Babcock at stakeholder meetings, Governance forums, Design Reviews and Security Groups as the IP Network Subject Matter Expert.

This role provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office/onsite and 2 days working from home.


Essential experience

  • Demonstratable experience in a management position in the defence or telecommunication industry, ideally MILSATCOM but not essential.
  • Cisco Professional Certification (CCNP)
  • Understanding of the Cisco technology portfolio including SD-WAN, Voice, data and Network Management Tools
  • Experience in writing and/or reviewing solution architecture HLD, segment architectures, reference architectures and roadmaps
