Reporting to the Depot Transport Manager, this role will require a strong individual able to drive and deliver results in a very fast-paced environment, with the ability to execute delivery of the daily plans.

The Transport Supervisor will be expected to comply and support all legal legislation in regard to fleet operations including good control of defect management, dispatch, and delivery process.


You will also need to be able to manage good communications and build a strong relationships with both suppliers and drivers.

A large part of the daily activities will include managing and improving driver behaviours, infringements, and vehicle efficiencies.


Transport Supervisor Role Overview

Process Management

  • Clearly engage with drivers and ensure they complete their daily activities.
  • Issue keys and other assets in line with our legal obligations.
  • Report breakdowns and followup response times.
  • Take ownership of the daytoday workplan inline with transport KPIs and coordinate and plan the following day's activities.
  • Coordinate and execute agency and Subco requirements.
  • Ensure all other work declarations, RTWs, and infringements have been communicated with drivers and successfully signed off.
  • Daily checks to ensure all drivers receive a licence check and PPE.
  • Communicate all stored briefs and any special requirements to drivers.
  • Undertake infringement discussions with drivers.
  • Report all vehicle defects and escalate any damagerelated defects to the transport manager.
  • Control and check all agency work declarations and that agency paperwork is completed.
  • Indepth accident investigations.

Leadership and Management of Staff

  • Communicate effectively with the team through daily and weekly meetings.
  • Manage the relationship between the depot, transport teams, and customer services
  • Identify and support staff through coaching and facilitation of other development opportunities

Cost Management
Review the daily work plan and make alternative changes to meet costs and quality.


Customer Focus

  • Build effective relationships with internal and external service providers and clients.
  • Communicate on a daytoday basis with internal and external stakeholders in order to effectively manage and address any operational issues that might impact on delivery for a client.

Health and Safety

  • Comply with all Health, Safety, and Environment policies and other relevant regulations ensuring accurate recording and reporting of any incidents, accidents, or near misses
  • Liaise with the Safety, Health, and Environment Executive on a daytoday basis to ensure any areas of concern are managed and resolved within the depot

Mail Integrity and Security
Ensure that all staff comply the Mail Integrity requirements including CRB checks and ID cards.

Essential Skills
-
Previous experience in a Transport Supervisor or similar role
-
Right to Work in the UK:

  • Excellent verbal, written, and telephone communication skills
  • Able to make clear and clinical decisions based on data and factual evidence and interpret performance data in a fastmoving, highpressure environment
  • Able to manage effectively in order to achieve daily and weekly tasks through organisation, delegation, and prioritisation
  • Confident presenter to groups of people
  • IT Literate proficient in MS Office including MS PowerPoint, and Excel skills for data analysis and presentation in order to influence business cases e.g. pivot tables, graphs, etc.

Desirable Skills

  • HGV licence and Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
  • Management CPC qualification
  • Previous experience working with Isotrak or equivalent telematics and tracking software
  • Previous experience working with Paragon
