This is an exciting and rare opportunity to join our Borders team as a DS or PS in the Joint Maritime Security Centre.

The Joint Maritime Security Centre (JMSC) is the UK government's centre of excellence for maritime security.

Its role is to increase awareness and understanding of maritime security threats and enable cross-government coordination to deliver a whole-system response to mitigate them.


This role will be responsible for coordinating and driving UK maritime policing through collaborative arrangements established within the JMSC - specifically, with responsibility to represent maritime policing priorities and cohere, encourage and enable information flow between the intelligence / information and operational arms of the organisation.


CT police provide a dedicated police capability within the JMSC (across the National Maritime Information Centre and JMSC Operations strands).

The dedicated JMSC team provide a single point of entry for all maritime information and intelligence requests from the CT network, intelligence agency partners and international stakeholders.


Primary responsibilities include:


  • To identify border related national security threats.
  • Proactive intelligence development.
  • Triage, deconflict, analyse, evaluate and develop information and intelligence.
  • Support intelligence partner requests and operational activity.
  • Provide support to CTP Fusion and CTPOR in the event of maritime CT event.
  • Provide a 24/7 on call function to support major/critical CT incidents.

Essential role based training

  • Be willing to attain the vetting status of 'Developed Vetting' (DV), due to the nature of this role and agencies you will liaise with. You will also be required to be STRAP inducted.


  • Complete the IPP

  • Intelligence supervisor assessment.

Required knowledge/skills
Essential

  • Proven experience in intelligence development or CT policing.
  • Innovative and creative, with an ability to work as part of a team.
  • Strong supervisory skills, with a focus on team work and collaboration.
  • Excellent communicator, comfortable in presenting to audiences across UK partners, stakeholders, law enforcement, and UK Government.
  • To be selfmotivated, generate high levels of selfgenerated work and productivity.
  • Ability to form and maintain relationships.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective team working.
Desirable

  • Knowledge of national CT maritime policing and police maritime security priorities.
  • Experience working within the CT border environment and experience at boarding commercial vessels/examining sea freight/ schedule 7 TACT.
  • Experience of supporting CT and/or maritime security operations.
  • Experience of IT systems such as Word, Excel and Power-Point.
