Role Outline
The Legacy and In Memory Fundraiser plays a crucial role within the Income Generation Team at East Lancashire Hospice.

This role focuses on the day-to-day delivery of legacy and in memory fundraising activity as well as delivering individual campaigns.


Key Responsibilities

  • Be the first point of contact for Legacy and In Memory Giving for East Lancashire Hospice
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote legacy giving with supporters of East Lancashire Hospice, as well as working with internal stakeholders to build a legacy strategy.
  • Encourage and steward relationships with individuals interested in leaving a legacy to the hospice, providing them with information, support, and guidance throughout the process.
  • Work with the Marketing and Communications Team to develop strong messaging and materials to promote legacy giving through various channels, including print, digital, and events.
  • Organise and coordinate inmemory campaigns and events throughout the year, providing opportunities for supporters to remember their loved ones while supporting the hospice.
  • Maximise the relationship between in memory donors and the hospice, creating long term mutually beneficial support.
  • Build relationships with Solicitors and Funeral Directors to help with the development of Legacy and In Memory Giving.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of legacy and inmemory fundraising activities, tracking key performance indicators and making recommendations for improvement as needed.
  • Provide regular reports and updates to the Head of Fundraising on the progress of Legacy and in memory fundraising year on year, working towards the set budget.
  • Provide training and support to staff, volunteers, and supporters involved in legacy and in memory fundraising efforts, ensuring they have the knowledge and resources needed to effectively promote.
  • Maintain accurate records of legacy pledges and in memory tributes to support growth within this income stream.
  • Organise legacy events throughout the year to engage with potential pledgers and help them find out more about Gifts in Wills and the hospice.
  • Represent East Lancashire Hospice at external events and engagements, raising awareness of the organisation's legacy and inmemory giving opportunities.

Personal Development

Managing Services

  • Ensure a safe environment by ensuring the reporting of hazards and incidents, completion of relevant risk assessments, investigation of incidents and implementation of risk reduction measures
  • Ensure effective use of all resources within allocated budget

Statutory Duties

  • Ensure the security of information accessed in the course of your duties ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act, Caldicott principles and information governance best practice guidance
  • Report any hazards or incidents in accordance with the Health Safety and Risk Management Policy and procedures
  • Comply with the East Lancashire Hospice 'no smoking' policy in all hospice premises and grounds
  • Be responsible for maintaining own vaccinations including Hepatitis B immunity (as applicable)
  • Ensure that infection control measures are followed in relation to your role
  • Work at all times to safeguard the rights of individuals promoting their wellbeing and protecting those at risk from harm, acting on any concerns related to safeguarding children and adults at risk in line with policy and local guidance
  • Work at all times to respect people's individuality, rights and diversity to ensure equality

Working Hours
The post holder will work 37.5 hours flexible. These will be worked over a 5 day week.
