    Description

    The CAMHS Neurodiversity pathway is a dedicated service for CYP referred with diagnosed or suspected neuro developmental conditions including learning disability.

    In line with NICE guidance and NHS England standards, the team deliver timely assessment and evidence based treatments.

    This is a perfect opportunity to gain experience in a very specialised area of Occupational Therapy to:

    ~ Included in this is the CAMHS Neurodiversity pathway.

    ~ To work with families, young people, schools and community settings. Working as part of multi-agency services in partnership to promote the mental health of all children and young people, to provide specialist intervention, and meet the needs of children and young people with established or complex problems.

    Ensure that all children, young people and their families have access to specialist mental health services and support that is based upon the best available evidence, meets minimum core standards and is needs based.

    To deliver as part of a team therapeutic group and individual interventions and assessment to children and young people with a diagnosis or undergoing diagnostic assessment for a neurodiversity.


    Assess and manage risk. Care planning. Determining the point of discharge and agreeing this with the child, young person and family. In the planning and delivery of OT with the Neurodiversity service. Mentoring and supervision of students across all health elements.

    Work with families in their homes, education and community settings and at base as appropriate/required by children/young people and their families.

    To provide specialist occupational therapy assessments and reports regarding children and young peoples daily living skills and occupational performance.

    Demonstrate effective skills in the assessment and reassessment of risk and communicate concerns accurately in a timely fashion.

    To work closely with the wider stakeholder group, by attending multi-agency meetings such as, child protection case conferences, Early Help Assessment, Education Health Care plan meetings

    The post holder may support colleagues on the CAMHS Duty Response rota which operates on a daily basis.

    Keep up to date with safeguarding training and policies


    To co-facilitate therapeutic groups for an identified group of children and young people and evaluating the outcomes and progress for the children attending.

    Assess and manage risk.

    Care planning

    Determining the point of discharge and agreeing this with the child, young person and family.

    GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths.
    Degree in Occupational Therapy.
    Demonstrate commitment to Continuing Professional Development.

    Child Protection Training
    Evidence of post qualifying training relevant to CAMHS
    Working toward or completing Sensory Integration training

    Minimum of two years experience as an Occupational Therapist working either in Mental Health or Paediatrics
    Experience of supporting children and young people who have complex social emotional, neurodevelopmental and/or learning disability.
    Experience of Mental Health and Mental Capacity Acts

    Ability to travel across Plymouth
    Car owner/driver
    Adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Disability Discrimination Act.

    Knowledge of mental health legislation.

    Good ability planning and organisational skills.
    Computer literacy
    Enthusiastic about the service and delivery of Occupational Therapy to children and young people with highly complex needs
