    Founding Data Engineer

    Central London 3 days a week, hybrid

    NB – we are looking for someone with specific experience around fintech, finance, banking, eCommerce transactions, insurance, payments, fraud, consumer scams or related areas. Please only apply if you have specific / relatable experience. You should also be fine to work independently, and be happy not to have any reports for 6-12 months

    About the client

    Our client is super early stage with huge ambitions to prevent the rising tide of consumer fraud in banking. With the rise of AI and smarter criminals it's not just the elderly being conned. Our client is rearchitecting the consumer banking and payments infrastructure to help banks, consumers and merchants stop the scams.

    The team is super high-level, with a female founder who raised $100m in her last fintech, and this venture is also well backed by top VCs, but currently at a much earlier stage. The team is ex Palantir, Bain & co and Morgan Stanley as well as start-ups etc. The business has 3-5 years funding runway and they have validated some of the big problems to solve. The mission is big. They have a new approach tested with retail banks. The data engineer will be key to bringing some of the solutions and the early stage product to life.

    The role

    > We're looking for someone that really fancies building a data platform from scratch alongside some very solid technical founders

    > Designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines.

    > Collaborating with various teams to understand data requirements and implement solutions.

    > Optimizing data workflows and processes to enhance data quality, reliability, and performance.

    > Developing and managing ETL processes for data ingestion, processing, and transformation.

    > Implementing data governance practices to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance.

    > Monitoring and troubleshooting data infrastructure to address issues promptly.

    > Staying informed about emerging technologies and industry trends in data engineering and analytics.

    Bonus points if you like to be creative about what data to go after / analytics, how to shape the product

    About you

    > 5+ years of experience in data engineering or a similar role.

    > Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.

    > Strong experience with data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark, Apache Flink, or Hadoop.

    > Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.

    > Experience with data warehousing technologies such as Redshift, BigQuery, or Snowflake.

    > Knowledge of database systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.

    > Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

    > Strong communication and collaboration skills.

    > Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic start-up environment.

    The role offers a good starting salary, proper equity and healthcare. All of which are not so common in an early stage business

    The team like to work together and collaborate in person 3 days a week in Convent Garden, if this doesn't appeal then probably not the one
