    NHS Medical & Dental:
The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is looking for a full-time Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery.

This post is one focusing on general dental work with an option to combine this with the management of other surgical interests.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a team of supportive consultants providing Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Services to the County of Shropshire and a substantial part of the adjacent Welsh County of Powys.

You will undertake Outpatient Clinics at both Hospitals with a main inpatient base and dedicated Head and Neck ward at Princess Royal Hospital, Telford.

You will be required to undertake general dental work. There will be an option to carry out or develop any other chosen surgical interests.
To deliver clinical and quality targets agreed both nationally and locally with clinical teams and commissioners.
There is a 1 in 5 general on call rota with a separate oncology flap cover rota.

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) is the main provider of acute hospital services for around half a million people in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid Wales.

Our main service locations are the Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) in Telford and the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH) in Shrewsbury which are located 20 minutes' drive apart.

Both hospitals provide a wide range of acute hospital services including accident & emergency, outpatients, diagnostics, inpatient medical care and critical care.

We also provide services such as consultant-led outreach clinics at the Wrekin Community Clinic, Telford, the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, Gobowen and the Bridgnorth, Ludlow and Whitchurch Community Hospitals.

A formal job plan will be agreed between the successful candidate and their Clinical Director and consultant colleagues, on behalf of the Medical Director within 3 months of starting in post.

A full-time job plan is based on a 10 PA working week. It covers all aspects of a consultant's professional practice including clinical work, teaching, research, education and managerial responsibilities.

It will provide a clear schedule of commitments, both internal and external and will include personal objectives, detailing links to wider service improvements and trust strategic priorities.

For a full-time contract, the job plan will be divided on average per week (pro-rata for a part time post) as:
5 Supporting Professional Activities (SPAs) - includes CPD, audit, teaching and research.

The allocation of PAs is reviewed and may be subject to adjustment when a further diary exercise is undertaken or if the service demands a review of the team job plan.

Any applicant who is unable, for personal reasons, to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post.

If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with other consultant colleagues
MBBS, MB ChB or equivalent medical qualification
Possession of both a medical degree and Dental degree from UK recognised institutions.
Full Registration and a licence to practise with the General Medical Council (GMC)
~ Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC)

Specialist Register via one of the following:
Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) (the proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview) Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR)
~ Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Examination in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery or equivalent

By submitting your application to Trac, you are giving your consent for parts of your application data to be transferred to the NHS Electronic Staff Record (ESR) and other secure, internal NHS Workforce systems.

This is to support and manage your recruitment and employment within your employing organisation.

In addition, whilst all applicants will be judged on merit alone, we particularly welcome applications from candidates who are male, from black and minority ethnic backgrounds or who have a disability, as these are currently under-represented in our workforce.

The policies and practices of the Trust aim to promote an environment that is free from all forms of unlawful or unfair discrimination and values the diversity of all people.

At the heart of our policy, we seek to treat people fairly, flexibly and with dignity and respect.

We believe in promoting and enhancing inclusion, diversity and equality and welcome and encourage applications from all areas of the community, who meet the criteria for the role, regardless of age, gender, disability, race, religion or sexual orientation.

Studies have shown that women and people from an Ethnic minority background are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every single qualification.

At The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, so if you're excited about this role but your past experience doesn't align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway.

We aim to create a trusting, flexible workplace, that attracts talent and enables everyone to be their best working self.

Many of our colleagues work flexibly in many different ways, including part-time.

We can't promise to give you exactly what you want, but we do promise a fair and equitable process that balances your needs, the needs of our patients and service delivery.

Thank you for your interest in The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, we look forward to receiving your application for employment.

The postholder will have regular contact with vulnerable people and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
