    Job Description

    We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Software Test Engineer to join our Manchester team in the defence sector, focusing on runtime environments. The role is hybrid (2 days a week on site) and due to the nature of the defence industry will require successful applicant to be a sole British citizen eligible for security clearance

    Main responsibilities:

    • Lead the software testing efforts, ensuring high-quality standards are met.
    • Administer and manage Linux systems, specifically Redhat (RHEL) and CentOS.
    • Utilise containerisation technologies, particularly Kubernetes, to manage runtime environments.
    • Develop and maintain scripts using Python and Bash to automate processes and improve efficiency.
    • Conduct extensive manual testing to identify and resolve issues.
    • Collaborate with development teams to integrate automated testing processes.
    • Implement Behaviour Driven Development (BDD) practices where applicable.
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards and security protocols within the defence sector.
    Qualifications

    Skills, qualifications and experiences required:

    • 5+ years of experience in software testing and quality assurance.
    • Proficiency in Linux administration (Redhat/RHEL) and CentOS).
    • Experience with containerisation technologies (Kubernetes).
    • Strong scripting skills in Python and Bash.
    • Extensive experience in manual testing.
    • Familiarity with automation testing (desirable).
    • Knowledge of Behaviour Driven Development (BDD) (desirable)
