    Class Teacher

    Grade: ECT/MPS

    Location: St Mary's Church of England VC Primary School

    Address: Clifford Road, Boston Spa, LS23 6DB

    Required From: 01 September 2024

    Contract: Permanent, Full-time with class teaching responsibility

    Accountable to: Senior Leadership Team

    Any Special Conditions of Service: No smoking policy

    Purpose of the Role: To facilitate and encourage learning that helps students achieve high standards; to share and support the responsibility for the well-being, education, and discipline of all students

    Main Duties:

    Teaching and Managing Pupil Learning

    • Ensure effective teaching of whole classes, groups, and individuals to meet teaching objectives and maintain momentum and challenge
    • Use engaging teaching methods, stimulate intellectual curiosity, ask effective questions, ensure clear presentation, and use resources effectively
    • Set high expectations for behavior and maintain discipline through focused teaching and positive relationships

    Planning and Setting Expectations/Pupil Achievement

    • Set clear teaching objectives, lesson structures, and sequences suitable for the subject and students
    • Set high expectations for learning and motivation, establish clear learning targets, and identify students with special educational needs
    • Assess how well learning objectives are achieved, provide feedback, and set progress targets

    Assessment and Evaluation

    • Assess learning objectives achievement, mark and monitor class and homework, give constructive feedback, and set progress targets

    Safeguarding Pupils

    Uphold public trust, maintain high ethical standards, treat students with respect, and safeguard their well-being

    Relationship with Parents and the Wider Community

    • Present informative reports to parents, connect learning to real-world examples, and collaborate with welfare agencies

    Manage Own Performance and Development

    • Take charge of professional development, stay updated with pedagogy research, implement school policies, and evaluate teaching effectiveness

    Managing and Developing Staff and Other Adults

    • Establish strong relationships with colleagues and staff

      • Managing Resources

      • Select and use appropriate textbooks and resources for teaching
