About the role:

SHP currently have opportunities for you to join our teams as a Complex Needs Project Worker, for our service in Westminster.

Reporting to the Manager, your role will require you to develop, support and motivate the people who we support and accommodate.

We run a service that is creative, responsive and that provides a foundation which empowers people to achieve their aspirations and make positive and sustainable life changes.

You will be crucial to making that happen.

This role can make a real difference to individual's lives and crucially, support individuals many of whom face multiple disadvantages and have complex needs.


About you:


To succeed, you will have knowledge and experience of substance use and recovery & harm minimisation models, as well as an understanding of working within the homelessness sector or housing.

You will also have strong communication skills and engagement skills, to work with a wide range of people. Other requirements include strong IT skills.

  • Demonstrable level of relevant experience of working with complex needs as presented by former rough sleeping or homeless people, (e.g. combined issues either relating to polysubstance use, mental ill health, multiple physical health needs, unmet social care needs, complex trauma, or repeat offending/street based ASB) in an environment where these needs are not supported by a statutory agency at the point of referral.
  • The ability to work intensively with clients, respond calmly to crisis and deal promptly, effectively, safely and creatively to complex and challenging situations.
  • A strong understanding of the issues that typically disrupt progress in journeys towards independence, such as mental health, substance misuse, selfharm, domestic violence, anger management, learning impairment and frailty due to illness.
  • Excellent time management skills, ability to work on own initiative, manage competing priorities and maintain high standards.
  • Excellent teamworking and interpersonal skills, maintaining a collaborative approach to delivering service objectives across work specialisms

This post will require an Enhanced DBS check to be processed for the successful applicant or the equivalent in their home country

Our attractive benefits package includes:

  • A salary increase after successfully completing six month's probationary period
