Job Introduction

Working within NGED's IT Distributed Computing Team an exciting opportunity has become available for a Change Coordinator based at Exeter or Plymouth.


Key features of the Distributed Computing Team include the overseeing of all IT changes to ensure compliance with policies and procedures along with the ability to liaise with business leaders and stakeholders to coordinate changes and minimise interruptions to IT services.

Main Responsibilities

Reporting to the Service Desk and Incident Manager you will be required to plan and prioritise competing demands across the business to ensure the safe delivery of change.

You will be required to oversee corrective actions for failed changes and liaise with all affected IT teams and business stakeholders.

You will manage the delivery of audit requests and provision of evidence relating to IT change management activity for internal and external auditors to address financial and regulatory reporting requirements.


Key features include:

  • Plan and prioritise competing demands across the business to ensure the safe delivery of change
  • Identity and understand the risk associated with each change and ensure the change is assessed accordingly
  • Liaise with the incident manager to help perform root cause analysis for IT incidents and identify corrective actions
  • Participate in incident response and identify and coordinate emergency change
  • Main point of contact for internal and external audits relating to Change and Release management
  • Provide system and process support and guidance to stakeholders within the IT Department and representatives from other departments
  • Manage and develop existing processes that support IT Change and Release management ensuring these are communicated to key stakeholders
  • Develop and publish required management reporting relating to Change Management
  • Understand departmental and Company business needs and objectives and their contribution to these goals
  • Drive continuous improvements to the change processes
  • Ensure the Change Control lifecycle has been completed successfully to an auditable standard
  • Work with the Service Desk Team to publish change information including scheduled downtime


The ability to manage your own time, work to agreed deadlines and strong communications skills are key to being successful in the role along with excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Word and Excel.


You will be required to understand change processes and procedures and have an understanding of IT audit processes and be comfortable working independently and as part of a team.


The following experience would be advantageous:

  • IT Service Management and/or ITIL
  • IT Change management systems
  • BI or reporting tools (e.g. Power BI)
  • Business Continuity planning and recovery
  • Documentation systems such as SharePoint or Confluence


You must have the ability to absorb large quantities of information and identify key points whilst paying excellent attention to detail.


If you are offered a position, you will be required to undertake and successfully complete a BS7858 security screening check.

Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment.
