    Job Title: Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer

    Exciting times lie ahead for ESNEFT as we embark on the implementation of Epic, our chosen supplier for a new Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system. We are at the start of a generational digital transformation project with a focus on patient care. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer with proven technical skills and knowledge to be a part of the IT Third line support team, primarily focusing on the Epic install, maintenance and support. By joining our Infrastructure team, you will play a key role in shaping the future of healthcare delivery, enhancing patient outcomes, and optimizing healthcare.     In addition to our new EPR, our work schedule for the team includes process improvements and project delivery where we have a number of key infrastructure initiatives underway including (Win11 deployment, Unified Communications, AD domain consolidation, Legacy technology replacement).

    Main duties of the job:

    • You will design & implement Epic and other production environments, ensuring alignment with Trust strategy and project initiatives.
    • You will lead the resolution of complex infrastructure challenges, conducting root cause analysis & implementing preventive measures.
    • You will provide strategic direction & solution design across all core technologies.
    • You will undertake research & development initiatives on a range of emerging technologies.
    • You will manage 3rd party maintenance contracts ensuring adequate cover, quality & value for money.
    • You will develop an understanding of the Trusts and NHS Network, Telecoms & IT systems sufficiently well to be able to advise users on any problems encountered.
    • You will pro-actively review new and emerging technologies with its subsequent application according to the Trust's business requirements, where relevant, provide input into business cases.
    • You will also play a vital role in providing technical consultancy for IT projects. Your input & expertise will help shape the implementation of new technologies, system upgrades, and infrastructure enhancements.

    Job Responsibilities:

    Experience:

    • Proven experience in a Support/Infrastructure management capacity, with experience of supporting a complex multi-vendor environment.
    • Handling complex organizational issues and constraints.
    • Proven experience of workload planning and delivery of key targets within a service environment.
    • Development and documentation of standard build documents and operating procedures.
    • Experience of leading others.
    • Infrastructure design, concepts, and fault finding.

    Desirable:

    • NHS IT experience.
    • A good working knowledge of Information Security (ISO27002 principles and practices).
    • Qualifications:

      • Relevant degree or equivalent qualification or significant experience of working at degree level.
      • Management/leadership qualification or equivalent knowledge at post-graduate level.
      • Evidence of continued professional development.

      Desirable:

      • CCNA, MCP, RHCSA.
      • Epic ECSA.
      • Project Management Qualification.
      • Knowledge and Skills:

        • LAN/WAN & Wireless Networking design and concepts.
        • VOIP & Analogue phone system design and concepts.
        • VMWare & Storage (Nutanix/Pure).
        • Windows/Linux server administration.
        • Active Directory & Office 365.
        • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
        • Able to prepare highly complex IM&T project proposals.
        • Desirable:

          • Software packaging.
          • Azure/AWS/Cloud management.
          • NHS/CFH applications.
          • Sophos/MDE.
