  • As part of our great Marketing team in Mercedes-Benz Trucks, we are happy to be sharing an opportunity to come and work for us as our Head of Product. Here you will lead the Product team who are responsible for all areas of product management for Mercedes-Benz and FUSO truck product portfolio. As well as being responsible for presales technical and legislative consultancy to customers, dealers, body builders, official agencies (incl. Government, Law Enforcement and Industry bodies) and equipment suppliers with regard to all relevant models in the Daimler Truck product range in UK.The transition to alternatively fuelled trucks represents a significant step towards sustainability and innovation in the automotive industry. As the Head of Product, you'll play a crucial role in driving this transformation forward, leading the product team to develop and implement strategies that align with Mercedes-Benz Trucks UK's sustainability goals.
More about the role

Lead the Product Managers to ensure all aspects of Product Management are delivered: positioning, pricing, specification and packaging. Ensure relevant market analysis and research is undertaken to identify market trends and product opportunities.

Lead the Product Managers in the development and implementation of tactical product actions to maximise the product or market opportunities.


You will support the operative planning process and business goals by developing both tactical and strategic product proposals across the portfolio (including Contribution Up ownership).

Define the commercial product benefits for Mercedes-Benz and FUSO trucks to support the ongoing development of the "Value Proposition" to train and support Dealers with the right sales argumentation, and also for customer facing communications.

You will lead the Sales Engineers to manage all technical and legal aspects of the relevant product lines. For these lines provide technical support to both internal and external stakeholders. Whist providing specialist technical support to the UK Bodybuilding Industry and Specialist equipment suppliers.


Lead the Product Operations and Homologation Specialist and take overall responsibility for the Truck national type's database, ensuring that it is fully maintained and that the department's obligations are fully discharged.

Carry out continuous review of forward legislative changes for Daimler Truck products from both the EU and UK point of view, liaising with Homologation to establish effect on UK Truck model programme and recommend appropriate action.

Review and influence Daimler AG product amendments and changes to ensure continued conformity with legislation and UK market technical/performance requirements.


Where required, you will represent the Company's interests in front of Government Departments, Law Enforcement agencies, courts and industry bodies.

Review technical innovation and development in the CV industry, attend industry events and exhibitions and advise management of trends and innovations allowing informed debate within MBUK and Daimler AG.

Also attend relevant Product meetings overseas as and when required.

  • About you
  • Alongside experience within a similar role you will have:
  • Comprehensive Truck product knowledge including competitive market desirable, but not essential
  • Proven ability to influence and negotiate at all stakeholder levels
  • Excellent numeracy and communication skills
  • Excellent IT skills
  • LCV license holder would be advantageous
  • Membership of a relevant professional institution such as IMechE
  • A comprehensive understanding of vehicle manufacturer operations
