Genomics England partners with the NHS to provide whole genome sequencing diagnostics.

We also equip researchers to find the causes of disease and develop new treatments - with patients and participants at the heart of it all.

Job Description:

We're looking to add a Senior Product Designers to join our fast-growing Design & Research practice.


As a Product Designer at Genomics England you will utilise your UX & UI processes to bring cutting-edge new clinical products to life.

You will take the lead on complex projects from end-to-end, coach and mentor junior team members and help to establish first class design standards within our new creative function.


This is a core role in our organisation and your everyday will consist of designing intelligent, intuitive products and collaborating with product managers to define and realise the product vision and roadmap.

You will need a deep understanding of user needs and business objectives to ideate, build and iterate products that are highly relevant, as well as improving and documenting our styles and component library.


As with all our design roles, we'll try to mould the position to your skills, experience and aspirations; thus giving you the opportunity to do more of what you love and create a platform for you to take your career to the next level.


Skills and Experience for Success:


  • Substantial multichannel product design experience
  • Demonstrable knowledge of UX & UI design processes and methodologies
  • Able to work endtoend, from discovery to launch, and beyond
  • Understanding of how to evaluate and interpret user research findings to wireframe and prototype solutions
  • Knowledge of the WCAG 2.1 accessibility guidelines and general practice.
  • A passion for collaborating with other designers, marketeers, product managers and thirdparty suppliers to implement service packages
  • Strong organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
  • Desire to continually improve work through giving and receiving feedback.
  • Advanced proficiency with design and prototyping tools

Qualifications:


  • Degree in Product design, interaction design, experience design, HCI or equivalent
  • Strong portfolio of design work

Genomics England operates a blended working model as we know our people appreciate the flexibility. We expect most people to come into the office 2 times each month as a minimum. However, this will vary according to role and will be agreed with your team leader. For some people this is 1 day a quarter, for others it is several days a week. There is no expectation that staff will return to the office full time unless they want to.

The exception would be some of our roles that would require you to be on site full time e.g., lab teams, reception team.


Our teams and squads have, and will continue to, reflect on what works best for them to work together successfully and have the freedom to design working patterns to suit, beyond the minimum.

Our office locations are Canary Wharf, Cambridge and Leeds.
