Situated in beautiful Dorset with the prestigious Blue Flag beaches of Bournemouth and Sandbanks, the Jurassic coastline and a wealth of attractions and countryside to visit we are lucky to be in such a fantastic area.
We are seeking an experienced
Prescription Clerk to act as a focal point of communication between the GPs, receptionist, practice manager, patients and local chemist, as well as other members of the primary health care team, to ensure patients' repeat and acute medication is produced within the current protocols of the surgery at our Parkstone Tower Practice, on a permanent, part time basis.
Job responsibilities:
To process, all repeat & acute medication requests sent in by patients using the various protocols in place
- To liaise with patients and chemists regarding queries and requests and ensure follow up action is taken if the enquiry cannot be resolved immediately
- To have knowledge of and adherence to the practices repeat prescribing protocol and to ensure repeat medication is issued in line with the protocols that are already in place and ensure that any queries raised are dealt with quickly and correctly.
- To ensure that patient queries on medication are highlighted to the relevant GP
- To regularly go through prescriptions 'not picked up' and 'unlikely to be picked up' as a result of the timescale, to remove the details from the patient records and then destroy the prescription
- Train members of the practice, relevant to the individual job role, and when revisions are introduced
- Updating relevant prescribing protocols where necessary
- Regularly liaison with Clinical Prescribing Lead
- Perform relevant searches and prescribing audits
- Manage MHRA alerts
- Prepare blood test cards (TQUEST) where appropriate
- Manage PPA
- To attend administrative meetings and relevant prescribing meetings
- To perform any other relevant duties that may be dictated by the needs of the practice
