We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Public Health Dorset team as a Business Support Officer.


Public Health Dorset is an innovative, creative, and energetic team working to deliver effective improvements in health and wellbeing, and to reduce inequalities in health outcomes to the 800,000 residents of Dorset and BCP Councils.

Through a shared service model that supports both Unitary Councils to fulfil their statutory public health duties, Public Health Dorset commissions and provides essential public health services, as well as supporting the Integrated Care System.

Our priorities now are to continue our prevention work as the local health and care system transforms.

At a regional level, we will continue to work with national bodies, including UK Health Security Agency and Office for Health Improvement and Disparities, working to ensure these critical public health functions - health protection, health improvement, healthy places and healthcare public health - continue to work effectively as we support the local system to deliver better outcomes to residents.


What you will be doing
This role will be providing business support to the Mental Health, Suicide Prevention and Health Inequalities programme areas and will:

  • Work closely with the programme leads to understand programme priorities, deadlines and key players.
  • Arrange meetings, events and associated activities on behalf of the programme lead and attend when required to record actions.
  • Follow up on actions and maintain action trackers.
  • Maintain a programme plan and be proactive in ensuring the programme lead/team is always prepared for key deadlines, progress is monitored, and timelines are clear.
  • Maintain digital working areas.

The Business Support team continue to work in a hybrid way, working from home and in the Bournemouth, Dorchester and Poole offices.


The Business Support team are committed to spending one day per week (as a minimum) in the office, alternating between the offices in Bournemouth, Dorchester and Poole.
