PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
We are looking for a highly motivated support scientist to provide services for our Glasshouse and Laboratories based in the Stockbridge Technology Centre.
You will be instrumental to Organisational success by ensuring the smooth running of our glasshouse trials, and act as a key contact between the Research Scientists in Stockbridge and the wider Operations team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Generation of purchase requests for laboratory and glasshouse consumables. (20%)
- Ensuring delivery of items in a timely and efficient manner (10%)
- Receiving and distributing deliveries, both physically and on our ERP system (20%)
- Maintain a well organised store room. (10%)
- Carry out regular stock takes to ensure accuracy of stock levels (10%)
- Generate requisitions for office/kitchen supplies (10%)
- Arrange equipment servicing for critical equipment such as fume cupboards and maintain records. (5%)
- Carry out routine servicing such as balance calibration and maintain records. (5%)
- General housekeeping on a daily basis. (5%)
- This role is not restricted to the above and encompasses any support activities that facilitate the smooth running of the laboratory-based operations. As the company grows, your role could vary as required to support further operational and support functions
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Required
- Education to BSc or NVQ level 5 in a technical discipline, or equivalent practical expertise gained from hands on experience in a glasshouse, warehouse, or laboratory environment.
- Experience managing the storeroom/inventory for a research facility or team. Experience reading and understanding H&S related documentation such as risk assessments, standard operating procedures and COSHH assessments.
Desirable
- Experience with a commercial ERP system such as Netsuite
- Experience working as part of a customer facing team.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Required
- Ability to work autonomously and proactively.
- Must be highly organised with an ability to keep accurate records for both our inventory and H&S records.
- Strong communication skills both in person and remotely
- Ability to meet deadlines and demonstrate awareness of realistic time requirements for yourself.
- Demonstrate a 'hands on' approach to talking challenged faced in your role and the ability to identify when it is necessary to escalate a problem.

Other Requirements - Ad Hoc travel to our Oxford site for team meetings and training will be necessary.
